    The Roofer Level 2 Apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who want to begin a practical and rewarding career in the construction industry. This programme prepares you to install, repair, and maintain roofs using a variety of materials and techniques, working on buildings of all shapes and sizes.

    As an apprentice, you’ll be employed in the roofing sector while receiving structured training at 91Ö±²¥. The course typically lasts 24 months and equips you with the skills to work safely at height, interpret technical drawings, and deliver high-quality roofing solutions

  • What you'll learn

    You’ll learn how to install and repair different types of roofing systems, including slating and tiling, waterproof membrane installation, and roof sheeting and cladding. You’ll also gain experience in preparing surfaces, measuring and cutting materials, and using hand and power tools.

    The course covers essential topics such as health and safety, working at height, manual handling, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). You’ll also develop skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving while working on real construction sites
  • Entry requirements

    There are no formal qualifications needed to start the Roofer Level 2 Apprenticeship—just a strong interest in construction and a willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. This programme is ideal for school leavers or individuals looking to retrain in a skilled trade.

    However, some employers may set their own entry requirements. If you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 2/E (or equivalent) in English and Maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 1 in these subjects as part of your apprenticeship. Don’t worry—91Ö±²¥ will support you throughout your training.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You’ll be assessed throughout the apprenticeship through practical observations, written assignments, and a portfolio of evidence. Your college tutor and employer will help you track your progress and prepare for your final assessment.

    At the end of the programme, you’ll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which includes:

    A practical roofing task
    A professional discussion
    A review of your portfolio
    These assessments confirm your competence and readiness to work independently as a qualified roofer

    If you’re interested in this apprenticeship, the first step is to register your interest with 91Ö±²¥. This will add you to our mailing list so we can keep you informed about any upcoming apprenticeship vacancies or employer opportunities in your chosen field.

    To begin the apprenticeship, you’ll need to secure employment with an organisation willing to support you as an apprentice. While it is your responsibility to find and apply for suitable roles, 91Ö±²¥ is here to help. We have a dedicated Job Shop located within the college, where you can meet with an Employer Engagement Advisor for tailored support and advice on how to apply for vacancies and prepare for interviews.

  • Future opportunities

    After completing this apprenticeship, you’ll be qualified to work as a Roofer, Roof Slater and Tiler, or Waterproof Membranes Installer. You may also choose to specialise further or progress to a supervisory role or a Level 3 qualification in construction.

    This apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in the construction industry, with opportunities to work on residential, commercial, and public sector projects.
