  • Overview of the course

    more less
The Craft Carpentry and Joinery Level 3 Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who want to advance their skills in the construction industry and specialise in high-quality, detailed woodwork. This programme builds on the foundations of Level 2 training and prepares you for more complex tasks in either site carpentry or architectural joinery.

As an apprentice, you’ll be employed while you train, gaining hands-on experience in the workplace alongside structured learning at 91Ö±²¥.

  • What you'll learn

    more less
You’ll develop advanced skills in measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, and assembling timber components. Depending on your chosen pathway, you may focus on site-based work such as fitting doors, staircases, and roofing structures, or workshop-based tasks like producing bespoke furniture, windows, and frames.

You’ll also learn about interpreting complex drawings, working to precise specifications, and applying finishing techniques. In addition, the course covers health and safety, sustainability, and quality control in carpentry and joinery.
  • Entry requirements

    more less
There are no formal qualifications needed to start the Craft Carpentry and Joinery Level 3 Apprenticeship—just a strong interest in woodworking and a desire to develop advanced skills in the trade. This programme is ideal for individuals who have completed a Level 2 apprenticeship or have equivalent experience in carpentry or joinery.

However, some employers may set their own entry requirements, such as specific GCSEs or prior work experience. If you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in these subjects as part of your apprenticeship. Don’t worry—support will be provided to help you achieve these essential qualifications alongside your training.
  • How will I be assessed?

    more less
You’ll be assessed throughout the apprenticeship through practical observations, written assignments, and a portfolio of evidence. Your college tutor and employer will support you in developing your skills and tracking your progress.

At the end of the programme, you’ll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA). This includes a practical skills test, a professional discussion, and a review of your portfolio to demonstrate your competence and readiness to work independently as a craft carpenter or joiner.
